I had to fight the desire to call this an 'Egg-straordinary' Easter, but came to my senses as I reflected on the wonderful occasions and gatherings that were held through Holy Week and Easter.
Beginning with Palm Sunday worship and the calls of Hosanna as Jesus came into Jerusalem, we then journeyed with him through Holy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through both morning and night prayer as we saw him declare who he was, and the people reject him. We gathered as he did around a table on Maundy Thursday and broke bread with friend and stranger alike as Christ's hospitality and call to service saw us invite any and all to the table and to wash their feet. On Good Friday, we experienced the pain and struggle and utter confusion that befell the disciples as Jesus died and then joined with other churches and Christians from throughout Napier to walk the cross through the city and then leave it standing as an ongoing witness for the weekend atop Dolbel reserve.
Holy Saturday saw us rework the Easter vigil with fire, lights, marshmallows, eggs and a reflection on the experience of those that met the resurrected Jesus. Finally, Sunday saw us celebrating, sharing in fellowship, food and fun as we came together to give thanks to God that even death cannot prevent his creative imagination from overwhelming us.
Thank you to everyone who was a part of the gatherings, whether attending or planning or leading. We pray that you have had a revival of heart and spirit as once again Christ's resurrection has changed the game and reality, and declared life too beautiful to ever truly end.
