Over the past week many of our children and youth communities and events have restarted. It has been fantastic to see the young people again, many following transitions from primary to intermediate, or intermediate to high school. It has been so much fun to get back into those connections, hear about the holidays and start our gatherings again.
On Saturday past, the Junior Youth Group (though only a few were able to make it sadly) led the Parents' Dinner, preparing a 5 course meal for the parents and caregivers, and waiting on the tables in service. We do this twice a year as an opportunity for the young people to say thank you to their parents, and to show off some of the cooking skills we teach them during the term at Junior Youth. On Tuesday, our AfterSchool Programme started again, with around 26 kids registered this is a bustling group of 5 to 13 years olds that gathers each Tuesday afternoon of term time. We were blessed to have supporting us the YWAM team that is on mission in Hawkes Bay. They brought an array of games and challenges that made for a special afternoon as we came back together. Alongside these, our Senior Youth Group has started with an ALPHA course, exploring faith and meaning on a Thursday night. The group will launch properly in May as we look to restart this important ministry to our community with the appointment of new ministers and leaders.
Whether or not you have family and whanau in the youth age range, we ask that you pray for these important ministries and expressions that not only serve our city and community, but help to grow the life of faith in another generation and fulfil our call to hand the baton of the life of the church to another generation of leaders, ministers and members!
